nNea Amsterdam Oud-West: The pizza reinvented

Just a little while ago, nNea has been announced as one of the top 50 pizza restaurants in Europe! (they landed on 13!!). And (after testing of course) we must say, we couldn’t agree more. Prior to their nomination we already kept hearing rumors about this modern type of pizzeria in Amsterdam Oud-West, where they care for their pizza dough as if it were their children. At nNea, pizza baker Vincenzo reinvented the Neapolitan pizza by letting the dough rise for at least 38 hours, leaving you with the fluffiest yet crispiest pizza crust you’ve ever had. And since at Vélo we never say no to a good slice, we of course had to go see for ourselves. Walking in we right away loved the setting of the restaurant. A real fresh, elegant and modern look. Such a welcome change over the Italian restaurants that look like a dusty living room from the 60’s. At the heart of the restaurant you find the big pizza oven smiling at you, since this is where the magic happens. The lovely waitress brought us the menu and recommended us an Italian glass of white Refiano wine, which on a Friday night went down rather easily.
Ofcourse then came the moment we were waiting for, ordering that famous pizza. We ordered both a vegetarian pizza as a meatlovers option. The classic Margherita and the Nonno Vincenzo with salame piccante. Cutting into that crust for the first time I can tell you, is a very satisfying feeling. The taste was pure and delicious just as it should be, simple Italian flavours but made from outstanding quality products.
