Vélo is a total-body workout that works all major muscle groups. Here are the areas you work while you’re riding like a champ.
This is why you will hear our instructors say ‘keep that core tight, tuck your bellybutton in!’ Using your core to stabilise your body throughout the ride helps to achieve overall balance, especially when you’re standing. You may not see the results of your ab work immediately but this builds over time and soon you will feel those muscles beginning to tone up.
Your arms and shoulders are continuously working throughout the ride to hold the body up. On top of that, we always incorporate dumbbell exercises to activate those upper body muscles even more.
Maintain a strong and stable spine throughout the class. This will help to strengthen and tone your back muscles.
__Gluteus and Quadriceps __
Feel those legs working with each pedal that you push down (from the heel, not your toes!) especially when you stand up from your seat. Increase the resistance to really feel the burn.
__Hamstrings and Calves __
Your hamstrings are located at the back of the thigh and help, together with the calves, to lift the pedal back up after it’s been pushed down.
