V-meditate with Sophie

Explore your body, open up your mind and recharge your spirit with our newest addition to the Vélo schedule: V-Meditate. This class is led by qualified yoga instructor Sophie, we asked her all about it during our interview. __What can we expect from the V-meditate class? __ V-meditate is a V45 class + 15 min guided meditation. The aim of this class is to let you reconnect and really be present with yourself, your feelings and your thoughts. When we put our body to motion on the bike, emotions start to flow and we open ourselves up. In the V-meditate we use that openness and continue to dig a little deeper in the 15 minute guided meditation afterwards. This is an introduction to meditation, with different themes every single time. Get ready to explore, open up and recharge. __What is your background in meditation? __ In 2018 I went to Costa Rica and did my YTT (yoga teacher training), this is where I meditated for the first time. We meditated every day, for at least 30 min, 30+ days straight. I did not only meditate by myself but I also learned how to guide a meditation. Focusing on different themes every single time, learning different ways to meditate. __How did you get passionate about meditating?__ At first, I didn’t like it at all. I am a VERY impatient person and when I started meditating I was always rushed and couldn’t slow my mind down. Meditating requires you to pause and to just let everything around you be. Once I got the hang of it and noticed the benefits, it became part of my ritual. I don’t do it every single day but I love using it as a self-care ritual, whenever I find the time and space or feel the need. __What are the benefits of meditating?__ Meditation is amazing because you are taking time for acceptance and stillness. Just being and observing without judgment. Feeling all the sensations, hearing all the sounds, noticing all the thoughts but letting everything be there. By meditating you will learn to accept but also come to know that feelings, thoughts and sensations are temporary and they can and will pass. Focusing on breathing is key and opening yourself up to tranquility. So, for benefits you could say that it reduces stress, helps with anxiety and it enhances self-awareness. The first V-meditate class is on the 16th of February at 13:00. Book it here!
