6 amazing things Vélo does for your body

It's not just in your head, your body seriously loves Vélo. Find out why.

It's not just in your head, your body seriously loves Vélo. Find out why:

  1. It’s great for overall health

Cardio training has been proven to benefit the cardiovascular (heart and vascular system) and the cardiorespiratory system (heart- and lung system) Long story short, attending Vélo rides regularly will:

  • Improve endurance and heart-lung function
  • Reduce the risk of heart and vascular disease
  • Improve/reduce blood pressure
  • Improve insulin sensitivity which, among other things, will reduce the risk of diabetes
  1. It’s easy on injuries

Cycling puts far less pressure on the joints than many other types of exercise. With the ability to work hard on your bike without the fear of hurting your knees and feet, you can worry about results only. If you have an injury, please let our instructors know before your ride. They’ll advice you what moves to be careful about or skip.

  1. It decreases stress

Vélo is the ultimate mind/body workout. We strive to be an outlet for all emotions. Also, the adrenaline rush and endorphin release that you get within the 45 minutes are proven to lower stress levels. Once you’re in the zone, it’s hard to focus on anything else then keeping up with our fabulous instructors.

  1. It burns fat

This is proven by the sweaty shirts of our riders after class. A V45 burns 500-700 calories on average. During a ride we mainly focus on bigger muscles, like our quads and gluteus, this causes us to burn more calories — not just during the workout, but days after (we love that afterburn!).

  1. It builds lean muscle

During a ride you will use almost all muscles and work both slow and fast twitch muscle fibers. Fast twitch are used in sprints and explosive movements while slow twitch are endurance muscles, used for example during the climb. Therefore, we increase strength and endurance while also creating a more toned physique.

  1. Strengthens the mind

At Vélo we’re all about a ‘can- do’ attitude and building mental strength. There will always be good and bad days but the most important thing is to always pull through the ride. Push through barriers and difficulties and create self-discipline that can be applied to other areas of life involving self-control or confidence!

We would love to see you soon, book your ride here!
