Make the most of it!

To minimise the consequences of recent life events, we do everything we can to ‘flatten the curve’. We keep our social distance, we stay inside as much as we can and we unfortunately cannot go to our favorite gym. But, we are in this together and creativity peaks in times like these.

So what can you do to make the most of this period?

  1. Obviously we keep moving. Home workouts are your go to escape! Consider this period as the best time to create a work out spot at home. This space doesn't have to be big, and can be right in front of the tv (prefered actually;)). Whether you follow one of @wearevelo IGTV workouts or write one out yourself before you get in position, you can still Keep up with the Kardashians while you move. We can even replace our usual gym equipment quite easily. How about a bottle of wine instead of dumbbells? Perhaps tie up a panty as a resistance band? Use toilet paper (if you still have some) to use as sliders under your feet? Or double up two towels as a yoga matt enabling you to simultaneously wipe off your sweat.

  2. After moving comes relaxation, so we recommend you to find something that eases your mind. This can be chilling on the couch to binge your favorite Netflix series all over again, but this can also be more in the line of reading, writing, painting, singing, you name it! Let’s check that list of ‘to-do’s’ now that we actually have time! Perhaps we can inspire you with the following to-do list…

A. Print your holiday pics, make a photobook and frame favorites

B. Do a closet clean out and donate what is not worn

C. Experiment new (protein) shake combinations

D. Clean out your computer & make sure all necessary items are safely in the cloud

E. Perfect your cake baking skills

  1. And last but not least; try to open up to having spare time on your hands! In the lives that we live nowadays it can be rare that we have some extra time. Take this opportunity to just be and reflect on things that you have accomplished in 2020. Pause and think deeply about all hours spent on yourself while working out, new people that have made an entrance in your life and new insights and opportunities that may have arised.

Let’s not forget, we are all in this situation, and as long as we try to make the most we’ll get out of it stronger! Don’t forget to call your loved ones a little more often these days and check in with them to see everyone is doing okay. Love defeats all!
